We save money on food, toiletries, entertainment don't we! Well, now let's see if we can save money on our electric bill for home owners and small businesses! We were featured in the NH Business Review Paper and soon after were contacted by Freedom Energy Logistics, LLC. Freedom Energy Logistics formed another division last year called
Resident Power Natural Gas & Electric.
Let me explain the information I have come up with. I would like to say first that this is something Alice and I just found out ourselves and are not speaking from experience but getting information out to you for more choices for you if you choose.
Ok, on our bill our billing prices are broken down. One charge called Energy Supply is on there which says this month 8.31% and is anticipated to rise to 9.57% per khw in March 2012. This is where Resident Power can cut our cost down. How it works is we enroll with them for free. When they get a certain number of people in our area they buy a block of energy. The more people who enroll will make the price for the energy a more discounted price. They guarantee a savings of 5%-20% savings. As more people enroll for the program, the more purchase power they have to purchase that block of electricity.
Honestly, as I was listening my mind was racing with all kinds of questions and hesitations. My first thought is ice storm and no power. Certainly, PSNH, the company I use, is a huge company so when the power goes out, it will be forever to come back because I wouldn't be with them anymore. What I learned was nothing changes. When we have power outages PSNH is the one who will be servicing us still. We still get our same bill, send our payment to PSNH etc. You see, the lines and the poles are all still PSNH. The energy is just put in by a different company but is still from the same New England Power Pool that PSNH uses. That's all. So we still pay our bill to PSNH, they pay Resident Power. When we have a question about such and such we still call PSNH. I'm giving the example PSNH but there is national Grid, NHC and more companies as well. This would all work the same. All is still the same EXCEPT we have more money in our bank accounts!
Here is a list of Frequently asked questions. They did very well picking the questions because I asked almost of all them when on the phone!
More towns have enrolled from this program such as Auburn, Franklin and more.
Resident Power is also listed as an accredited business in the Better Business Bureau.
One thing from what I understand is that after you enroll, it will still take time to switch over because they have to get enough people in your area to then go buy that block of energy. The good thing is though that more towns are signing up for this.

Here are some quotes and also some Facebook posts from Resident Power:
"The Colebrook Chronicle has chosen to be a Resident Power customer, with an estimated savings of almost $500 a year in electricity costs. Our decision to make the change was based on the obvious, that we were going to save some money in utility costs, and also because we appreciate the opportunity of having a choice."
Resident Power now boasts over 2,000 residential and small commercial enrollments. Over half of our customers have already been provided with a new supplier rate, some as much as 16.5% lower than what they were paying with their utility such as PSNH.
Resident Power is pleased to add our friends at Poly Recovery to our growing list of satisfied small business customers! Check out their website when you get a chance and find out what they are doing to improve plastics recycling.
Resident Power is pleased to announce the addition of Myles Travel Plaza to our growing list of small commercial customers. If you happen to be on 101 and need to refuel and refresh, be sure to stop by! They are right off exit 2.
